The Times New Roman font has apparently been updated to support the latest Unicode version 12.0 (2019). This means that from now on this widely used font is fully compatible with all Unicode characters used to transliterate ancient Egyptian language. The font is now including the “egyptologial yod”! It is also true for other fonts. A very annoying drawback for a widespread use of Unicode characters has finally been removed…

This is great news for the Beyond the Text project, which will no longer have to change fonts used in its database or in publications!
